英语老师演讲稿 How to Be a Good English Teacher

Good morning, honorable judges，

It is my great honour tobehereto share my teaching story.

Being an English teacher for 6 years,I found it is not easy to be a good teacher.It’s important that a good English teacher should master Englishvery well. But thatis notenough. Themore importantelement is to love students continuously.

As a teacher, to be honest,I really love my students and love being with them. However, sometimes I am tired of the burdensome work, so I can’t be patient with them. I rememered in one of my classes, many students didn’t prepare for dictation and even couldn’t read the dialogue fulently. I was furious. At the end of the class, I shouted:“Why are you so lazy? I don’t like lazy students!”All my students were silent. I rushed out of the classroom angrily. During the next ten days, I was down and kept a serious look during the class. One evening, a student text me:“Dear Mr. Song, I miss your smiles. The first day you entered our classroom, I was attracted by your big smiles. I have been expecting your smiles and lessons every day. ”After reading the message, I looked at myself in the mirror --- I did look ugly with the sad face.“Smile,please!”, I said to myself. Next morning, I went into the classroom with a big smile. The students were a little astonished, and then they quickly burst out cheerfully “Good morning, Ms. Song!”That class was a big success. They were active and cooperative during the whole class.

After that, I realized keeping smiling is really important.A smile shows the teacher is friendly and warm-hearted. A smile shows the teachers’love for their students. With teachers’smile, students will be brave and active in class. They will be eager to speak English. They will not be afraid of making mistakes or losing faces. A smile itself can make the teacher look younger and beautiful. It is good for our health.

People say that teachers are the engineers of human souls. I enjoy my job.It’s a glorious career in the world. It will take me a long way to be a good teacher. But I will try my best to be a good English teacher and I believe I can. That’s all! Thank you for your listening!
