　　My father likes fishing. He always goes fishing with his friends in Autumn.

　　One day, he took me to fish, too. In autumn, fish have grown up. It is the best season to fish. First, we chose a good place. Then my father helped me put an earthworm onto the fishhook. Afterwards, I threw the fishhook into the river. I waited for a long time. Suddenly, I saw the float sink. I was very happy. I pulled it out of the water but I only saw half of the earthworm. The fish played a trick on me. I was very angry. But my father said to me, “it takes time. You need to be more patient.” I tried again. A few minutes later, I caught a big fish and I showed it to my father. My father praised me, “what a good angler you are!”

All members of the family try to be present at the meal. On the first day of the new year, people go to visit their relatives and friends. The study of smoking shows that many kinds of illnesses have something to do with smoking. Smoking itself is a waster. It costs one so much money, Besides, many fires are caused by careless smokers. 　　Far and away the most important holiday in China is Spring Festival, also known as the Chinese New Year. To the Chinese people it is as important as Christmas to people in the West. The dates for this annual celebration are determined by the lunar calendar rather than the Gregorian calendar, so the timing of the holiday varies from late January to early February.

　　To the ordinary Chinese, the festival actually begins on the eve of the lunar New Year's Day and ends on the fifth day of the first month of the lunar calendar. But the 15th of the first month, which normally is called the Lantern Festival, means the official end of the Spring Festival in many parts of the country.

　　During the summer holidays, I went to my grandmother’s home. One evening after supper, I stood on the balcony to look at the sky.

　　The stars in the sky were twinkling. Some were crowded, and others were separate. Then I found that the stars were not the same colour. They were white, grey, light blue and orange. It was really beautiful. At that time, the sky was like blue damask decorated by millions of bright dimonds.

　　Looking up at the sky, I saw the moon. It was like a naughty child, sometimes it hid in the clouds and sometimes it got out of the clouds. It seemed to play “hide and seek” with us. The stars around the moon, however, were as shy as girls, and hid themselves in the clouds.

　　Oh, what a beautiful sky!
