With the deepening of reform and opening—up of our country, many people dream of going abroad for further study. They insist that the modern research facilities, world famous professors and excellent environment in those foreign co11eges and universities can help lay a perfect foundation for their future development.
However, there are still many people who favor studying at home. They argue that studying abroad is too expensive and therefore doesn’t pay, They also Point out that there are no language and cu1tural barriers if they study in our country.
Just as the old saying goes, ”Every advantage has its disadvantage.” Both opinions are acceptable in some sense. If students have the chance and financial resources, they should seize the opportunity to go abroad and broaden their eyes. On the other hand, if conditions don’t permit, they can pursue their studies in top universities at home. What counts is not the place where they study, but what they can learn．
Today more and more people want to apply for studying abroad as economy develops constantly. Because people think they can accept better education.
However, there are still many controversies about the issue. Some people agree with the idea, because there is no doubt that you can go through more different things and know more different knowledge. It is also a good chance for them to learn foriegn language because they can have more time to communicate with foriegn people. But others think studying abroad will cost a lot unnecessarily and finally effect is also unknowable. It is more important for sudents to have a good attitude of studying but place.

Attending schools abroad has many advantages. In the first place, by looking at our own country from outside, we can best see the strong points and weak points of our nation and therefore widen our vision and broaden our minds.
Second, while studying in a foreign country, we can travel widely, visiting famous scenic spots and making friends with the local people. Thirdly we can use the foreign language in our daily life so that our ability in the second language may be improved quickly. But the most important thing in attending a foreign university is to get acquainted with the latest knowledge in science and technology and make use of the first-rate facilities available. For all these advantages, it is really worthwhile to go abroad for education.
However, as everything has two sides, there are also some disadvantages in attending a foreign university. The most serious problem is the language barrier. Most of the students who are ready to go abroad do not adequate knowledge of the language spoken there. As a result, on arriving there, they will find it difficult to understand what the instructors are saying. Besides, for lack of knowledge of the customs and way of life of the local people, they may run into trouble in dealing with various situations. Therefore, misunderstandings often arise. Furthermore, the cost of living is much higher than that in our country, so most students have to find part-tine jobs in order to help support themselves.
Faced with these difficulties, many students find themselves unable to pay full attention to their studies and some students may even fail in their courses and learn little.
Vote for Studying at a Good Western University
Education has always been crucial for the development of society. Government of China spares no effort to improve higher education by providing good education environment, in which universities play quite important role. Now top universities in China enjoy world-wide reputation. But if I am offered an opportunity to study 1 or 2 semesters at a good university in the West, I would say yes.
Distinct culture, brand-new environment and exotic companions will render different life perspective, higher-level academia and better chances for future career.
Rich experience is the premise of broad life scale. The most terrifying thing for an individual is the limitation of one’s perspective. A good western university is an appropriate fertile land where foreign culture will always impact one’s ways of thinking. When thinking modes are changed, a larger picture can be grasped. For instance, for many people, making money is the only pursuit of life. They are living a life rather than enjoying their life. Money undoubtedly is a necessity of life but making money cannot be the focus of life. One needs to have global awareness, enjoy their life and care about those who are in need of help with making money being just part of life.
Top universities in foreign countries help in academia attainment. Lectures from celebrities give aspirations. Large libraries offer great
collections for research. Study sources suffice. What’s more, prize winner professors and excellent classmates are campus tradition. Once inspired, students are easy to succeed with so much assurance.
Such experience contributes to future career. Many talents are recruited directly from good schools, so much more chances lie ahead for job hunters. Additionally, such experience hones one’s abilities, being able to be independent academically and pragmatically, for example, which are very essential for the future elite in working.
Though not many are mentioned, the reasons for the preference to studying at a good western university are not restricted to these. Life should not be a peaceful lake but a turbulent sea. Difference, challenges and changes are what call out our names.

我自己是在大学期间完成这个进阶的，从3500-8000大概用了一个学期的时间。当时下载了很多背单词的资料，也有去上新东方明星老师的词汇课，包括托福课中也有词汇的部分。不同老师有不同风格，给的建议也各不相同，当时并不清楚哪种方法更适合自己，各种方法都尝试过，那么发现就是词缀法也好联想法也好，如果没有一定量的基础都是很难实践的，所以最后决定还是要海量死啃。
用的资料是《李笑来21天托福词汇》，这本书就是乱序排列的， 分成21个章节，那我买来以后本来是几页几页的背，发现太慢了，这样一年也背不完，这本书后来被我‘大卸八块’，每个章节撕开成一个小册子，标了号，排序以后每天看2-3本，最疯狂的时候一天除了吃饭和上课啥也不干，就是看单词，注意是看，不是背。就是看单词，读它，看意思，下一个单词，看它，读它，看意思，下一个...一天看四五个章节大概一千多词。
这样坚持了大概一个月以后，就能明显感受到‘灵魂的升华’了，阅读、看电影电视剧明显感觉到‘我背过这个词！’，注意，是我背过这个词，而不是‘我知道它啥意思’，即使是能做到这一点，其实就是很大的进步了，那么这个时候结合语境再去巩固一下它的意思，两三次之后这个词就真正认识了。

这个阶段推荐使用托福词汇，原因托福词汇的范围是非常合理的设置在出国留学和生活所需求的最常用、必须的范围。建议留学的宝宝一定要过这个坎，不然你的留学生活会很辛苦！
这个阶段背单词，市面上流传的很多方法其实是不管用的，那些都是后面进阶的方法。这个阶段会用到的就是以下几个点：
1.艾宾浩斯记忆曲线。大量，多次重复。
建议一组单词50-200+，一天3-5组，取决于你想用多长时间彻底进阶。
例如，8000单词如果在100天内进阶（全部背完），假设20天为一个循环（每20天复习所有单词一遍），100天时全部单词循环五遍。那么就可以把8000单词分为20个组，每组400个，每天新学一组，复习1-3组。
读到这里有人可能要喊了：每天400个新词要看多久！加上复习一天一千多怎么可能！！！
那你要注意了，这八千个词里面，你已经掌握了至少三千了，就是说，400词里有接近一半是你已经认识、熟悉的词，所以实际上一组是200左右。且复习的过程中你会记住越来越多的单词，每一组真正需要记忆的词会越来越少，等到进行第20组的时候，可能前面有些组你只需要花费5-10分钟就能复习完一组。
如果还是觉得压力巨大，那么你可以调整目标时间，或是分区时间。
例如上述的分区是以100天为目标，20天为一个循环，如果觉得有困难可以增加到30天，每组270个。30天完成第一次循环，60天完成第二次，100天完成第三次。或者调整整体的目标为150天，200天，再重新分组做计划。
2.乱序法。
多数单词表都是按字母顺序排列的，这样的排列其实非常不利于记忆，可以选择乱序排列的词表，或是自己制作打乱顺序的列表。也可以把单词书解体，随机重新排列。
3. 其他方面的辅助
书写，收听，观影，阅读，口语，在各处识别你正在背记的单词，因为我们的记忆是多方面起作用的，通过五感（听，说，触，闻，尝）全面调动你的记忆，可以大幅度提升记忆速度。
听：看电影、电视剧的时候注意是不是有听到正在背记的词，也可以借助原文字幕。背单词时可以借助词典收听发音，跟读。现在也有很多录制的单词表，包括单词书也会附带音频，要善于利用，做其他事情的时候可以作为背景音来听，睡觉的时候也可以播放。
说：大声重复朗读单词，让你的声带‘记住’这个单词。我们的身体和肌肉都是有记忆功能的，经过练习你会发现有些词你会读，但是不记得什么意思，这就是身体先于大脑记忆的实证，而你其实是有记忆的，只是‘想不起来’
触：同样是利用身体触感的记忆，当你背记单词的时候可以根据词义去做一些动作，触碰相关的物品，书写这个单词，用图形、图画去‘翻译’记录这个单词的含义。
闻，尝：当你闻到橘子香味时会想到橘子，那么反推当你记忆orange（橘子）这个单词的时候可以去联想，它是什么味道的，边背边吃一个橘子。

When all the factors are examined, we may reasonably come to the conclusion that studying abroad is advisable.

Going abroad for Studies
The other day I announced that I would go abroad for further studies right after my college education. My decision evoked the immediate objection of my family： Why? Why should I borrow a huge sum of money for overseas studies while I might receive the same education at home at relatively low cost?
